Launched in 1997, grip hair and body was the first salon in London to adopt a strictly ammonia-free hair colour policy. Research in this field allowed us to exclude all the usual big brands seen in the media and focus on small brands carrying the same ethos as ourselves. Back then, concerns surrounding ammonia based hair colour were not as widely known and publicised as they are now.
It has always been an area that Maeve, Salon Manager, has felt passionate about.
Her unrivalled expertise in this field has led to her being employed to give seminars and support to the hairdressing trade on the subject.
This passion carries throughout the salon. Only Organic or environmentally sound products are used at the basins and we offer an extensive range of organic skin treatments and products. A fantastic range of organic, fair-trade teas and coffees are served and only eco friendly cleaning products are used. A strict recycling and reusing policy is in place so please don’t ask for a bag for your products unless absolutely necessary. We also insist that the suppliers of our products embrace the same ethos as us.

Our team may tell you things about your hair and skin that you would rather not know, but we will tell you!. In line with our no nonsense approach, there is no hierarchy at grip, all stylists are equally qualified and experienced and there are no silly price bands.
